Be yourself and nothing else.
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
Once there was a little boy, who sat on his front porch almost every afternoon. He heard the birds singing but, he didn’t know what. He saw the clouds moving across the sky but couldn’t pick out the story they were about to tell. He tried to imagine it all but, nothing came. Sitting on his front porch, he felt alone.. Then one afternoon a lady happened to pass by and noticed the little boy sitting alone. She walked up to him & said “Good afternoon, I couldn’t help but notice that you looked a little lonely sitting here.” The boy replied “I’m not lonely, I’m just waiting for a friend.” She smiled. “I know that friend, and they will come eventually.” The little boy looked up at her and smiled. She held out her hand with a small, circular object in it. He took it very slowly, and he held on to it tight. “Every now and then as you sit out here, hold the rainbow circle up and look through it,” she said as she began to walk away. “You’ll be glad you did!”
One day, as he sat on this old rugged porch, with nails sticking out & paint wearing off; he took the rainbow circle and held it up.. Where he saw that old house was now a brand new one, with brand new paint and wooden porch!
He kept looking through this circle & the longer he looked the more he saw; he found himself looking at couple sitting on a porch swing, and kids running through the house! The boy noticed that this was not a different house at all, but yet the same one only in earlier times. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing! Very scared, he ran home and threw the circle in his closet an covered it with clothes so no one could find it. This little boy had witnessed a scene of love and joy but, he wants sure he wanted that again. He let the rainbow circle untouched for weeks. But one afternoon he pulled the rainbow circle from it’s hiding place and took a walk around the neighborhood! He stopped in front of a little girls house who was the same way he was. As he put the circle up to his eye, he noticed that the violin she was playing was now playing beautiful music and she was standing very talk. He was amazed at this so, he ran home and up the stairs, opened the door to his room and sat down in front of the mirror. He saw his own face, but it was no longer filled with pain or shame. He saw his eyes, no longer red with tears rolling from them but now full of color! The boy was very excited at what the circle showed of him. As he sat in front of the mirror and brought the rainbow circle to his face this time, he felt that his fear had been confirmed. There was no difference. It wasn’t that the magical circle had stopped working but now he saw the world as if looking through it all the whole time. He finally then noticed what the rainbow circle had done; it had revealed the true essence of the world around him! In this great joy, he headed outside. While walking through the neighborhood, he passed a shop and outside a man slammed the door of his car and was cursing, and became very angry. The little boy walked up to the car and put the magical circle where the man could see it, and wrote a note that said “Look through this sometime. That’s all!” And went off through the neighborhood. The End!
